Surgery
Gemini began with an urgent request to help craniopagus twins – two independent children that were connected to each other with fused skulls, intertwined brains and shared blood vessels. Since 2018, we have worked with clinical teams around the world to plan and carry out exceptionally complex brain surgery operations. Each case has taught us the value of careful preparation, bringing specialists together, sharing knowledge with local teams and listening to families.
It has also shown us that other children with rare or highly complex neurosurgical conditions face many of the same challenges: The expertise they need is inevitably far from home, and surgery is only one part of the care they need.
How Gemini makes a difference
We continue to help children facing rare and complex neurosurgical conditions by enabling expert teams to assess cases, plan treatment and collaborate with local clinicians. Depending on the child and the circumstances, that may mean planning and supporting surgery, bringing specialists together from across the world, strengthening the local team and helping families navigate the path ahead.
