Dr Amparo Saenz is a paediatric neurosurgeon and clinical researcher with extensive experience in complex paediatric neurosurgery, including craniofacial surgery, spinal disorders, and congenital neurological conditions.

Originally trained at Garrahan Children's Hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina, one of Latin America's leading paediatric hospitals, she subsequently completed three specialist fellowships at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) in London, specialising in paediatric neurosurgery, paediatric spinal surgery, and craniofacial surgery.

She is currently pursuing a PhD at University College London's Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, investigating the role of cerebrospinal fluid in the development of Chiari II malformation associated with spina bifida. Her academic interests focus on translational neuroscience, surgical innovation, and improving outcomes for children with complex neurological conditions.

Within Gemini, Dr Saenz plays an active role in the development and coordination of the organisation's research activities. Her work encompasses the design and management of research projects, scientific manuscript preparation, authorship of academic book chapters, and the supervision and mentorship of students and junior researchers. She also contributes to multidisciplinary clinical assessments, collaborative research initiatives, and the investigation of innovative technologies, including virtual reality applications in the planning and management of complex conjoined twin surgery.

Passionate about bridging clinical practice, scientific discovery, and education, she is committed to fostering academic collaboration and translating research into meaningful improvements in patient care.
